About us

Uganda Youth Development and Training Programme (UYDT) is a nonprofit in Bukedea District in the Eastern Region of Uganda. We provide education and training to people living on less than $1/day to help facilitate their own self-generated development in education, income generation, health, human rights, gender sensitivity, civic participation and more. Our programs include a vocational institute, Early Child Development centre, demonstration farm, Appropriate Technologies Center, ICT/ Computer Center and Village projects initiated and tailored to the needs of the communities.

UYDT  works within a broad aim of enhancing Community efforts in promoting socioeconomic empowerment as well as leadership and mentorship for effective decision making among women and young people in the rural communities of Eastern Region of Uganda particularly Bukedea District. UYDT works to ensure that women, young people and community members at large are able to realize their full potential, come up with innovative solutions to their problems as individuals within their communities. UYDT believes that Education, training, mentorship, economic empowerment and information sharing are very fundamental in the wellbeing and holistic development of rural communities. That’s why UYDT works to provide hands on skills and start up stool to youths, women and people with disabilities as a means of empowerment and ensuring that people living in rural communities live a quality life coupled with dignity, equality and ability to sustain their livelihoods. www.uydt.org.
