CHILDREN’S WELFARE

Nationwide, children below the age 15 constitute 48.1 percent of the overall population in Uganda. Their age places them as one of the populations at risk of several injustices including child marriage, child labor, sexual exploitation and child neglect among others, with the greatest pinch being on the side of girls

This Programme aims at ensuring children are healthy socially, physically and psychologically, through providing necessary support in terms of mentorship sessions, trainings, counseling and a platform to share their ideas as a way of nurturing them in leadership and self management. In this programme, UYDT engages children during holidays at the office premises and also make follow-ups to school out reaches especially through our projects “children managed school farm project” where children in school are supported to start up school farm to provide for the breakfast and lunch at school mostly the government primary schools because government does not provide meals to children at school.
